Ratiba Hefny: born in 1931 in Cairo. She is an Egyptian and International Opera singer (Soprano) performed in more than 500 opera performances. She is theDean of the Cairo Higher Arab Music Institute as well as Director of the Cairo Opera House. She grew in a musical family,her father Mohamed Ahmed El-Hefny has more than 45 books on music, and her German grandmother was a German opera singer. She received the highest qualification specialisation in operatic singing from the Higher School of Music in Munich, Germany, in 1955, (the Egyptian equivalent of a doctorate). She occupied numerous important posts such as Technical Adviser to the Chairman of the Committee on National Cultural Center (cairo Opera House), President of The Arab Society for Music of the League of Arab States, Member of the National Specialised Councils and Supervisor of the Centre for Talent Development of Cairo Opera House. Many achievements were fulfilled by Mrs Ratiba Hefny in the music field as establishing the first choir of children in Egypt, in 1961, Umm Kulthum Ensemble for Arabic Music and the Religious Songs Ensemble. She founded as well the National Arab Music Ensemble and the Cairo Opera Children's Choir.
