Yesterday, the Safaga Misdemeanor Court, after over two years of ups and downs, acquitted millionare Mr. Mamdouh Ismail along with five others responsible for the death of 1,034 citizens and injury to up to 385. At the same time, 600 kilometers away in the city of Alexandria, the Public Prosecution Authority challenged the decision of the Appeals Court to release 14 young Facebook activists and continued their imprisonment upon case number 5943/2008m Raml District, Alexandria. "The Facebook youth group are imprisoned because they chanted songs during a trip, Ibrahim Eissa is appealing against the court ruling of his imprisonment because of some articles he wrote regarding the health of the president while a millionaire is acquitted despite his responsibility for the death of more than 1,000 citizens. Therefore, in Egypt, we don't see justice as a blind-folded lady because justice differentiates between accused people. Now we have a different kind of justice", says Gamal Eid, the Executive Director of the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information ANHRI. Today, Alexandria Court of Appeal is to examine the General Prosecution's request of the continuation of the imprisonment of the Facebook youth for another 15 days.
