Mr. Altwaijri said that Mrs. Leila Ben Ali's inaugural address was rich in terms of appoaches and visions which are likely to promote the Arab women's conditions and to allow them to work in unison with men, the ultimate objective being the building of a better future for Arab societies. He observed that the proposal of setting up a strategy for women's empowerment and the inception of prizes for orgranisations and associations operating in the field of women promotion represent a novel impetus for progress in Arab countries. Mr. Altwaijri also noticed that Mrs. Leila Ben Ali's term as AWO's Chairwoman “falls within both the finalisation and the continuity of the efforts that have been deployed by the First Ladies who have successively presided over the Organisation” He further indicated that the Tunis Congress provided an opportunity to better understand women's conditions in Arab countries and to identify the shortcomings and weaknesses so as to both avoid and overcome them, particularly those concerning women's rights and gender equality.
