The first time I went to Alaia famous headquarters I was extremely nervous to learn he was coming down the stairs and that I was actually really going to meet him. 2 minutes later I met someone with an enormous heart and the most beautiful smile who welcomed me as family ever since. Not only was I beyond the skies for wearing the amazing creations that I connected the most deeply with, but I was incredibly grateful for the love and support I was receiving as well.. Loosing him could never be imagined as he was the most dynamic and hard working person I've ever seen.. He was not only a unique genius that made the most incredible pieces while fitting perfectly with extreme ease, but his philosophy was to accept whatever body you were given and that your shapes always came first.. I have always been struck by his availability and openness in helping me find the best and most adequate vision for my shows respecting and giving space to my creativity and even awkward inspirations sometimes supplemented with a hilarious humour.. Being the living legend he was, he still managed to get curious and open his world and heart to the newest and unknown universes. I am so thankful to be his compatriot, to have been inspired by him constantly, to have laughed together to have received his strict and fatherly advices to have closely known his art, may it cross the centuries as there will never be anyone or anything this human, this deep and creative. His art was a whole other world beyond fashion. I love you and miss you terribly.
